I'm sooooo loving the support Frank Ocean is getting after revealing his sexuality. I'm happy that people (for the most part) are being compassionate and open minded.
What frank did is so courageous, it's inspiring. I hope it encourages others to live their own truth.
Russell Simmons released a statement in support of Frank Ocean saying this is a big day for Hip Hop because it will define how compassionate we are.
"Ocean’s post marks “a big day for hip-hop … It is a day that will define who we really are. How compassionate will we be? How loving can we be? How inclusive are we?”
I am profoundly moved by the courage and honesty of Frank Ocean”, Simmons continues. “Your decision to go public about your sexual orientation gives hope and light to so many

Def Jam recording artist Frank Ocean of Odd Future opened up about his sexuality and falling in love with a man....
This is soooo Powerful!!! First let me say.. I respect Frank Ocean so much for his courage and his honesty about his sexuality.... Though it's really nobody's business, i admire him for being open & truthful in a business that encourages artist to stay silent.
So many black men are afraid to be honest about their true sexuality for fear of being judged by others. So many kids are committing suicide because they are harassed for being themselves or they they take their own lives because they are afraid to be themselves... The more high profile people like Frank share their story, the more people will begin to embrace it.
This is a very brave thing for Frank Ocean to do, Especially since he is so closely affiliated with Hip Hop. as a woman, i can appreciate any man who is openly gay and not pretending to be something he is not.
The Game wants gay rappers to come out the closet "If you gay, just say you gay. Be gay and be proud.”
The Game recently spoke with Atlanta radio station 107.9 about gay rappers in the Music Industry and says he wishes they would come out of the closet and be proud of who they are:
"I think there are several rappers that are in the closet and gay, and see those are the type of gay people that, the only type of gay people that I have a problem with," Game says. "I don't have a problem with gay people. Like, Beyonce should've said, 'Who run the world? Gays,' because they're everywhere and rightfully so.Back in 2009, rapper N.O.R.E. did an interview with VladTV where he confirmed that there are indeed mainstream, highly successful gay rappers out there that he’s worked with:
"Do you. It's a free country. Be gay, you can do that." "Game don't have a problem with gay people, Game has a problem with people that are pretending not to be gay and are gay because the number one issue with that is that you could be fooling somebody and you could give them AIDS and they can die and so that in the closet shit is real scary.
"So, we've got to get into the real seriousness of it and it's just not fair to other people. If you gay, just say you gay. Be gay and be proud."
“I have recorded, not with people who are openly gay, but people who are closet gays. I’ve got songs, you know, Google it. I’m positive I have worked with a gay rapper. There is [a successful gay rapper out now] and he won’t get me to say the name. Once he’s a success story to the point where he can’t be stopped, then yeah, he’s gonna come out the closet… It’s not a big secret, everybody is gonna be like, ‘Oh yeah, I knew that.” (NORE)via hiphopwired /// Necolebitchie
