Vybz Kartel responds to critics about bleaching his skin

Jamaican Dancehall artist Vybz Kartel sent this response to Vibe.com after he came under fire for bleaching his skin earlier this week:via NecoleBitchie

“I’m my own man, and as such I do my own thing. When black women stop straightening their hair and wearing wigs and weaves, when white women stop getting lip and butt injections and implants, when bald men stop getting hair transplants, and when people stop getting nose jobs and cosmetic surgery then I’ll stop using the ‘cakesoap’ and we’ll all live naturally ever after. Until then F**k you all.”

MY THOUGHTS:  His response is a bit harsh but i must admit... he does have a point! people are so quick to judge others yet they themselves alter their own appearance. I don't like the idea of skin bleaching for a few reasons.. it seems like it could be harmful to your natural skin... but, then again...  who knows what "hair relaxers"  may be doing to our brains... its all chemical. Weaves, wigs, tanning, injections, makeup, implants or any form of plastic surgery are all attempts to look different than how we are naturally born to look,  who are we to judge this man? I must admit this picture of him is a lil scary looking...  i dont know if its just a bad shot or if thats really his complexion but... i like his darker look better, either way... you might wanna take a honest look at what you are altering about yourself before you attack him.

Recently Camron discussed his 2007 rap beef wit 50 cent. He confirms thy are now on good terms.

"I don't have no problem with 50. 50 cool with me," Cam said. "It was good for hip-hop. We had our little hip-hop beef or whatever you wanna call it, but ain't no problem. Jim [Jones] and Juelz [Santana] do stuff with 50 and they camp all the time. I don't have a problem with 50 at all. It is what it is. We had our little discrepancy, and we moved on from it." (MTV)

106 & Park's Terrence J talks about preferring older women "im 28 and the oldest has been 39, 40"

Congrats to Terrence on his "The Game" TV show recurring role. He plays the role of Tosha Mack's much younger boyfriend.  He's actually a really good actor and natural at it... i can see acting in his future for sure. Entertainers like Drake & Terrence are really making the Mature older ladies happy right now.... Check out what Terrence has to say about dating older women...

On Dating Older Women

Yeah, I’ve always dated older women. I’m 28 and the oldest has been 39,40. They understand my lifestyle a little bit more. Most of the time if you’re a little bit older they’re in a different space professionally. They can accommodate me a little bit better. I like to be cooked for and everything like that. I don’t discriminate, I was just dating a 21-year old but I do like older women.

On his 106 & Park image

When people meet me, they see that it’s a character. 106 & Park, it’s a TV show character that appeals to 16 and 17 year-olds. I can’t go up there talking about gun play, drug play and put a tattoo on my face because that’s not who we appeal to. That’s been very lucrative for me. That’s lead to big deals with Sean John, It’s led to deals with Rapport sneakers. So from a financial perspective and business perspective it was smarter for me to act like that because I’m in a lane by myself. Me & Nick Cannon are in a real distinct lane that no other African Americans are in right now.

[So] I’m going right to the corny bank and right to the cheesy teller and cash in on it. And that’s why I think its good when I’m allowed  good opportunities like “The Game”, people can see that I’m very dimensional. I’m a human being like everybody else.

Reggae superstar Vybez Cartel receives backlash from fans for (alleged) skin bleaching

NecoleBitchie reports: Retired baseball player Sammy Sosa isn’t the only celebrity that has been dipping his hand in the skin bleaching jar. According to Rolling Out Magazine, Jamaican dancehall artist Vybz Kartel has bleached his skin in an attempt to change his image.

Reggae artist Vybz Kartel hates himself, but it’s not his fault. The dancehall musician lightened his skin and has experienced a backlash from fans who are appalled by his physical changes. In a recent interview, Kartel linked blacks who lighten their skin to white people who tan.

“This is my new image,” Kartel said in the interview. “You can expect the unexpected. I feel comfortable with black people lightening their skin. They want a different look. It’s tantamount to white people getting a sun tan.”

Rapper Chamillionaire talks leaving Universal Records, says they wanted him to make pop songs

Rapper Chamillionaire said he stopped releasing music because Universal Records was trying to force him to make pop songs... he fought to get released from the label and is now a free agent...

"The reason why I haven't released any music for a while is because I was trying to get off of Universal," Cham explained in an interview. "For a while I felt like I was fighting against the machine that was supposed to be supporting me. I left under the terms that I couldn't put out [my third solo album] Venom or anything recorded while I was there...I just wanted to be able to get back control so I can release content how and when I want to. These labels spend more time complaining about 'rap music' that isn't pop enough than actually supporting a brand and a vision." (All Hip Hop)
"I think nowadays labels feel rap doesn't sell that much, pop does. So what they are doing is they are trying to turn rappers into that," Cham said in an interview. "'You infiltrated pop culture with 'Ridin Dirty,' now do it again.' That's what they wanted me to be, and if I came in with something that was more me, they wouldn't support. But 'Ridin Dirty' wasn't a pop record - it was myself." (Billboard)

G-Deps wife speaks to Vibe Magazine about his murder case. "he's innocent until proven guilty"

It’s been just over a month since Dep turned himself in, where’s your at head right now?

I’m still in the emotional stage. I haven’t moved on from that yet. Over the years I built up this armor when dealing with [Trevel’s drug habit]. But now it’s completely off.

Diddy was quoted saying Dep wouldn’t hurt a fly, but that he always looked like he was dealing with an inner struggle. Did you feel like something was always lying heavy on his conscience?

[Long pause] Whenever I saw [Trevell] stand and freeze, I thought it was just an issue with drugs… like that was the effect of the drugs… that was from being dropped from Bad Boy, him not having enough money to provide for us the way he wanted to. Those type of disappointments.

Are you two still married? A story in the New York Post mentioned he had a girlfriend, but not a wife.

I’m his legal wife. We’ve been separated for a year, but I look at it like you can always go back to your wife. We’re still intimate, I’ll put it that way. He has a daughter with his girlfriend. I don’t know what he’s doing with her right now, but we’ve been communicating every single day so I’m good with that. And he knows that I’m taking the forefront to handle everything. And I think they both have a drug dependency. It looks like it, there’s no denying that.

Lil Wayne discusses his anger towards Miami Heat players LeBron James & Dwayne Wade

In a recent issue of Rolling Stone Magazine Lil Wayne expressed anger towards Miami Heat players LeBron James & Dwayne Wade. When Wayne sat court-side at a recent Miami Heat/New Orleans Hornets game he was upset that Lebron James and Dwayne Wade never came over to talk to him.
"Them n*ggas never speak to a n*gga, They don't chuck me the deuce or nothing. N*gga spent all that money on them f*cking tickets ... Come holla at me. We sit right by them little b*tch-a** n*ggas. At least come ask me why I'm not rooting for you." (Rolling Stone)
