The REAL reason Nas was banned from dissing Jay Z at Summer Jam 2002
I know this Nas & Jay Z incident is a part of Hip Hop history, but this video is so creepy to me, i debated with myself on whether i even wanted to post it on this site.
Realizing that this is a part of Hip Hop history that some fans are still confused about, i decided to post it, so you could see the REAL reason behind the scandal of Nas performance being banned from HOT 97's Summer Jam back in 2002.
10 years ago, back when Nas and Jay Z was beefing and dropping diss songs about each other (ether, takeover, super ugly)... Nas was suppose to perform at summer jam, but the performance never happened because HOT 97 didn't agree with a part of Nas show where he planned a Jay Z lynching.
I think the lynching was suppose to happen during his classic "Live At The Barbecue" line:
"Hangin N*ggas like the Ku Lux Klan"Things hit the fan when this lynching was not allowed to happen. Nas went to the rival station POWER 105 the same night as the concert and went on a rant against HOT 97.
Being behind the scenes at the time, i heard some details about what Nas wanted to do, but until seeing this footage today, i had NO idea that it was on this level, he really had a life like Jay Z face & body, and the lynching looked REAL.
Martin Luther King would have rolled over in his grave, Black leaders ( Al, Jessie..etc) would have all protested the station and demanded heads roll for allowing a black man to be lynched on stage (rightfully so).
I LOVE Nas and everything he's done for Hip Hop, he's in my TOP 3 of all time, but this would've been taking things toooooo far. I'm glad it never happened, and i'm sure looking back, he's glad it never happened as well.
Watch the video below (courtesy of B. Dot @ Rapradar) and let me know your opinion... Did HOT 97 make the right decision to ban this?
