Whitney Houston's Family Battle Over Billboard Tribute Award

Some people are starting to compare Pat Houston (Whitney's sister in-law) to Whitney's sister in the Bodyguard movie... Remember her?

Reportedly Pat tried to stop Bobbi Kristina from accepting Billboard's Tribute Award in Whitney's honor last night because she felt that she herself should be the one accepting the award for Whitney NOT bobbi Kristina.

In my opinion, Pat accepting a award of this magnitude on Whitney's behalf is like having Tito Jacksons wife accept a tribute award on behalf of Michael Jackson instead of letting Janet, Jermaine, Michaels Mother or his own Kids do it. (C'MON PAT)

Only 4 people should have been considered to do the accepting for Whitney... Bobbi Kristina, Whitney's mother Cissy Houston, Whitney's close cousin Dionne Warwick or Whitney's mentor Clive Davis.

In the end, Pat got her wish... she did indeed go on stage to speak before handing the mic over to Bobbi Kristina.

TMZ reports... Sources closes to the situation tell TMZ ... Pat is trying to force herself into the spotlight by accepting Whitney's Millenium Award at the ceremony in Las Vegas tonight ... and producers of the show are pissed.

We're told the show really wants Bobbi Kristina to accept the award and make the speech on the late singer's behalf ... but Pat won't stand for it and is making life hell for them as she tries to worm her way into the segment.

Sources tell us ... the show's producers feel Bobbi Kristina is the best choice to represent Whitney's legacy and they're convinced Pat is simply exploiting the situation to get publicity for her upcoming reality show.
