Mary J Blige addresses controversial commercial, Burger King apologizes

mary j blige burger king commercial
Mary J Blige is speaking out about her controversial Burger King Chicken Wrap commercial. She says the final commercial was not approved by her and was leaked prematurely.

Mary says the part where she pops up and starts singing about chicken was actually suppose to be a dream sequence (ahhhhhhh) now that makes sense and would've been funny!!!

Some people were very upset that Mary was singing about chicken (Stop it). Why do WE always try to down play the fact that we (black people) LOVE chicken? I eat chicken all the time, and i know i'm not the only one... am i?

There's nothing wrong with Mary (or any black person) doing a chicken commercial, everything doesn't have to be classified as buffoonery, i don't believe Mary would belittled herself for a check, i believe her when she says she didn't see the finished commercial.

Unfortunately Burger King dropped the ball big time and put out something that looked very low budget.... They have apologized to Mary and they admit it's their fault. C'mon Burger King!!!

We love you Mary!!!
Mary J. Blige says she never signed off on the controversial fried chicken ad that she shot for Burger King -- at least not the version that was blasted on the Internet. Mary J. tells TMZ, "I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence. Unfortunately, that's not what was happening in that clip." Mary also says, "I understand my fans being upset by what they saw. But, if you're a Mary fan, you have to know I would never allow an unfinished spot like the one you saw go out." (TMZ)
Burger King confirms the ad was released prematurely "before all of the licensing and final approvals were obtained." The fast food giant also says, "We would like to apologize to Mary J. and all of her fans for airing an ad that was not final." Burger King says the final approved version will be released soon. (TMZ)
