SWV releases "I Missed Us" Album

In a era where just about every singer is auto-tunned-up, i can appreciate a group like SWV. After listening to their new album I Missed Us, i was reminded of what the letters SWV actually stand for "Sister With Voices"...

These girls can SANG! They did a cover on the album of Patty Labelle's classic song (and one of my personal favorites) "If Only You Knew".

We all know, NOBODY likes touching Patty's songs... why? because they can't!! Remaking a Patty Labelle song could be career suicide (if not done right). Not many singers even dare make the attempt.

SWV took on the challenge... When i saw that they remade Patty's song "If Only You Knew", the first thing i did was fast forward to the part of the song where Patty goes CRAZY, hitting all type of high notes.

Did they do the song justice? The answer is YES, YES & YES!! Not only did they do it justice, Coko KILLED/ MURDERED/ SLAUGHTERED the ending!!! (go girl), her voice is the TRUTH!!!!

I also watched a video of them singing the song live and it gave me chills. Everyone started cheering and screaming when Coko did the ending.

Ok, now back to the rest of the album... I enjoyed it. it starts with their current single "Co-Sign", that song is very reminiscent of the classic SWV sound.

Track #2 All About You has a nice party feel... you can expect to hear that one on my show "Ladies Night" on 98.7 KISS this saturday 8-10pm :)

The Ladies worked with Cainon Lamb (producer for Keyshia Cole, Jazmine Sullivan, Beyonce & others) on this album, it has a modern feel mixed with their original sound. I believe their fans won't be disappointed. Much love to all 3 ladies (Coko, Taj, Lelee) for helping to keep real singing alive.
